TO A CROCODILE WITH IT'S OWN POND

 

 

Oslo Reptilpark first opened it's doors in Storgata, Oslo in 2002 with the manager as the sole employee. It was a year-long childhood dream that finally saw the light of day after about 4 years of applications and paperwork. For many years the manager was the only employee with a large group of volunteers who did an invaluable job with animals and visitors.

 

Since then a lot has changed.

In September 2007, after a turbulent time with the loss of lease and difficulties in finding suitable new premises, about 80 animals moved into new, bigger and better premises in St. Olavsgate 2 on lower St. Hanshaugen, Oslo.

 

A large working group consisting of friends, family, volunteers and enthusiasts worked day and night to finish terrariums and interior so the visitors once again could get the magical experiences.

A big thank you to all who gave of their time and energy!

 

We still think about new minor and major projects to provide the public with even more exciting visual experiences.

Our heads are full of ideas and can see room for improvement in each terrarium.

 

In 2011, we had 3 full time employees and 5 volunteers and the park looks better than ever. With over 50 different species, we are confident to give the audience an exciting experience and to see even more people challenge themselves with one of our snakes, or in special cases, a lizard or tarantula!

In 2016 we are 10 employees and still meet loads of enthusiastic, curious (and sometimes a little nervous) young and old. We are so grateful for our job, where we get to share what we think is the most interesting and fascinating, with so many people every day!

 

January 10, 2022, Oslo has had it's own Reptile Park for 20 years!
